Carters Lake DH Mini Series

ATLANTA, GA ( - While racing in the Northeast has been booming, the southeast has be crashing. With the lack of DH racing in the Southeast the IMBA recognized Freeride group SoFA (SORBA Freeride Alliance) has announced a DH Mini series this summer at the newly constructed official DH trails at Carters Lake USACE Federal Recreation Park.

The series will include a total of three races that have been put on dates that provide no conflict with other major races in the South and Mid-Atlantic area. Racing will be in the traditional Pro/Am format with the best of two runs. Cash purse will be awarded to the Pro class and prizes awarded to the amateur class.

Carters lake course has been constructed over the course of a year by the SoFA group with official approval of USACE (US Army Corp of Engineers) that governs the park. All proceeds from the race go into SoFA's trail building fund to complete a minimum of two more DH runs at Carters Lake in the near future.

These are not NORBA sanctioned races and you will be required to have a SORBA membership to participate in the events.

SoFA is one of a small number of IMBA recognized Freeride groups across the nation. SoFA has worked to build many new riding locations and secure public land for use of bike parks as well as being a recipient of one of the Kona Freeride Grants given out through IMBA. SORBA/SoFA is a registered non-profit organization with a 501(c)3 status. SORBA is the second largest organization of mountain biking enthusiasts second only behind IMBA.
