Champery World Cup #2

CHAMPERY, Switzerland (derailedonline.com) - Second UCI World Cup stop is underway in Champery, Switzerland. Descriptions of the course are steep and tech. Been reported that races such as Minaar, Peat, and Vouilloz - who typically run clipless pedals - are running flats. I expect times to vary greatly and not any split second finishes for this course. Any racer that has spend some time on the east coast of the US will have an advantage since the terrain looks very similar to the likes of places such as Plattekill and Windrock.

Imagine a picturesque mountain view of ski slops and snow capped peaks, and you have the area called Portes du Soleil. Here is a full screen map of the entire area at the border of Switzerland and France in the alps. Champery is on the far left side with a total elevation change of 1245 meters (4084 feet).

Jill Kitner has posted some photos on her blog that really display the steep terrain that makes up this race course. View her blog post here
