BANNER ELK, NC (derailedonline.com) - Sugar NMBS took place of the weekend with a very dismal turnout - only two women total in pro women DS and only three in pro women DH. A war of attrition took place on the DH on Sunday. DH turned into a battle of who could make it down in one piece either with no crashes or no mechanicals. US National Champion Cole Bangert repeated his performance in Vermont with a win at Sugar. Melissa Buhl won pro women DH by a decent margin over the other two women competitors.
Dual Slalom, Luke Strobel won the mens pro DS. The women had a 50/50 chance of winning the DS with only two competitors registered. Melissa Buhl gets double podiums with a first place in DS.
