ROXBURY, N.Y. (derailedonline.com) - ROAD TRIP! 2008 Gravity East Series Director Dieter Ward and son Brian hit the road after Christmas for some winter biking action. First stop was at the Greater Columbus Convention center in Columbus Ohio for the NBL Christmas Classic and UCI points race for 2008 BMX Olympic qualifying. With 1,138 riders in 230 motos for Friday's NBL race the old man managed to make his main and finish sixth after a year layoff from BMX racing.Two UCI Olympic points races for Elite Men and Elite Women were held on Thursday and Friday evenings. Cristian Becerine/ARG and Maris Strombergs/Lat were the Elite Men winners while Samantha Cools/Can won both days in the Elite Women category.

Then is was on to Cleveland to hit up Ray's MTB Indoor Park. Ray's is an awesome facility built by owner Ray Petrom, "the goofball who tried it". Ray had a vision that if he built it they would come. Ray's will also be hosting a Shaums March Urban Freeride Clinic January 11-12. First day of the clinice, Friday Jan 11, will consist of 6 hours of instruction coached by Shaums March, Jim Dellavalle and Jeff Lenoski. In addition to Shaums, Jim, and Jeff, there will also be 2 female coaches available for women who would like to take part in the clinic. Saturday January 12 there will be private coaching sessions where you can take advantage of having your own coach with a maximum of three riders per group. The park will be closed to the general public on Friday and open exculively to this MMR clinic, so don't miss this opportunity to learn from the best and progress your skills for next summer without the crowds.
