Carters Lake Series Finals

ATLANTA, Georgia (derailedonline.com) - 2008 SoFA Carters Lake MiniDH Finals took place over last weekend under sunny skies, perfect temperatures, and lots of people having fun. A total of 45 racers entered the event, the largest turn out to date in the two years of operation of the SoFA Carters Lake MiniDH series. Some individuals drove 6+ hours to attend the event. Participants for the event came from all the neighboring states: Florida, Alabama, Tennessee, South and North Carolina, even Indiana.

Sunday morning was brisk temperatures in the 50's and a heavy dew had fell overnight. The dew fall created perfect traction conditions. Shuttle ran constantly with all the participants having a good time. This race was the best riding conditions ever seen at Carters on a race day. The course gave a few people difficulties over the weekend with one of the newly modified jumps, accounting for a few injuries during the day.

Competition was stiff in all these categories with only seconds delineating the leaders of each category. The open/pro/expert course for the weekend favored longer travel bikes compared to the course of the second race. Open/Pro/Expert category was won by Ethan Quehl of Georgia with a time of 1:31.30, Chris Wyatt of Georgia in second with 1:32.87, and Mike Gruhler of Floriday in third with a 1:34.46.
