BOULDER, Colorado (derailedonline.com) - Since the 1990's IMBA has been working to get the US Forestry Service to change it's rules regarding mountain bikes. Mountain bikes were grouped with motorized vehicles such as ATV's and dirt bikes. The US Forestry Service had grouped Mountain bikes with motorized vehicles without a thorough knowledge of what a Mountain bike really was. As with all government policy, it takes a long time to implement a change. That change has finally arrived!
The US Forestry Service is reconsidering their look on Mountain bikes and un-grouping them from our motorized brethren. Now we must stand up and make our voice heard. We are currently in a 60 day commentary period to make the change permanent. So please fill out the form and make your voice heard to the Forestry Service - this could mean more trails near you!
