Xdream World Indoor MTB Championships
LEICESTERSHIRE, United Kingdom (derailedonline.com) - Xdream has created the first Indoor World MTB Championships. Greg Minarr wins the first event held during BikeRadar Live in Donington Park, Loughborough, Leicestershire, UK - a first annual bike festival and the largest in the UK.
The Indoor MTB Championship was conducted using mountain bikes hooked up to spinners with TV screens that simulated MTB riding - Xdream system. The technology was developed by Trixter. The competition put three compeditors head to head on three identical stationary bikes racing a virtual course while crowds just a few feet from them cheared them on. The event was sponsored by Trixter, Race Face, Mountain Bike World and Bike Radar Live.
Minaar fended off some stiff competiton which included Steve Peat, Gee Atherton, and Graham Obree (world record holder in track).
Minnaar said: “It was great fun and such a great buzz with the crowd so close to the action.”
