Cyclist Narrowly Missed Enraged Drivers Bullet

ASHEVILLE, North Carolina (derailedonline.com) - Alan Simons accompanyied by his three year old child and wife was shot at by an enraged driver after a confrontation on Tunnel Road in Asheville, North Carolina. The enraged motorist, Charles Alexander Diez, is an Asheville Firefighter now being charged with attempted first-degree murder.

Diez stopped Simons who was on the road with his three year old son riding an attached tag-alone bike attached to the back of his dad's bike and began arguing with Diez about being on a high-traffic road. Diez then drew a .38 caliber pistol and fired a shot at Alan Simmons head that struck his helmet and narrowly missed his skull and it is probable that the helmet deflected the bullet enough to save his life.

Cyclist in the community of Asheville, which has a very large cycling community, are outraged along with fellow cyclist throughout the country. Diez has been released on a $200,000 bond till further judicial hearings.
