24 Hour DH Race

Österreich, Austria (derailedonline.com) - Three hundred and seventy riders have signed up for this years 24 hour DH race in Austria, an unusual event that attracts riders from all over the world. This year the likes of Nathan Rennie and Matti Lehikoinen.

The event is hosted at Zau[:ber:]g bike park in Austria (see www.bikeparksemmering.at) and as you probably expect is 24 hours of DH racing. The event is as simple as it sounds, do as many runs as you can in a 24 hour period. The race begins in a LeMans start where racers have to run up the mountain to their bikes. Then afterwards it is up the mountain on the lift for as many runs as you can fit in a 24 hour period. The course is 2.2 miles long which is lengthy for a downhill course. Last years winner, an Austrian Martin Strasser, rode non-stop for 24 hours completing 159 runs!
