Minnaar and Jonnier Tops at Leogang
LEOGANG, Austria (derailedonline.com) - Saturday night brought nothing but rain to Leogang and left behind a very slick track for Sunday's race. Sam Blenkinsop (NZL - Lapierre) was set to make a win today but two errors on the course cost him the top podium position. Even with the errors Sam got 4th.
Greg Minnaar (RSA - Santa Cruz) was victorious today with a perfect run. Crossing the finish line for second was Gee Atherton (GBR - Commencal). For third was USA DH phenomenon Aaron Gwin (USA - Yeti). Cameron Cole (NZL) rounded out the podium for fifth place.
For the elite women, Sabrina Jonnier (FRA - Maxxis) won with a time of 4:52.70. Emmeline Ragot (FRA) came in for second place a little under four seconds behind Jonnier. Following Ragot was Floriane Pugin (FRA), Tracey Moseley (GBR - Trek), and Myriam Nicole (FRA).
