USA Cycling MTB Nationals Results
SOL VISTA, Colorado (derailedonline.com) - USA Cycling Mountain Biking National Championships finished up this weekend at Sol Vista. This was the first year for the Nationals to be held at Sol Vista bike park in Colorado. To say the event will not be forgotten is an understatement.
The weather conditions during finals were very windy and dry dusty. Not a good combination on a course that had some very massive jumps that were hit at high rates of speed.
The general feeling from all the competitors that walked away unharmed was a "glad-to-be-alive" relief that the race is over with no real concern with how they placed, only that they survived the whole weekend. The race was plagued with injury after injury. One airlift occurred to hurry pro women racer Kathi Pruitt to emergency services after a failed jump left her with all the ribs on one side of her body, broken scapula, and multiple other injuries - healing thoughts for Kathi as she's got a long recovery ahead of her.
